Hazardous Area Compliance Inspections


Engertrol have teams of highly qualified inspectors who have years of experience and are up-to-date to current Australian standards.


Many companies in the oil & gas, petrochemical industries often request Engertrol to provide third party confirmation of new and existing installations in hazardous areas complete with the compilation of dossiers and records to ensure compliance with the Australian standards, as well as perform annual and statutory testing and inspections in accordance with their regulatory requirements. For more than 25 years now Engertrol has been providing that inspection service in accordance with AS/NZS 2381 & AS/NZS 60079 as well as other overseas standards for our clients, as well as our normal consulting, engineering, design, construction/installation, commissioning and maintenance services for hazardous areas.


For our inspections we would normally perform the following as a minimum, and generally all motors receive a full detailed maintenance service:

As well as completing an inspection schedule for each relevant item of equipment, in accordance with AS/NZS 2381.


NOTE: All items of equipment will be inspected in accordance with the latest editions of the relevant standards.


Therefore the following aspects will be checked as a minimum:

  • All parts of the equipments installation are certified
  • All stopping plugs and bolts are in position.
  • There is no damage to the equipment or cabling.
  • Cable glands are all tight.
  • All stopper boxes are filled and not leaking.
  • All seals are satisfactory.
  • The electrical protection is correct.
  • Electrical connections are tight.
  • Earthing is satisfactory.
  • There is no corrosion.
  • Complete minor repairs (gaskets, bolts, sealing compound etc.) Where possible and if required.
  • All items will be labelled in accordance with the agreed numbering system.
  • Ex. Certificates will be obtained, where possible, we have approximately 2000 certificates on file.
  • All luminaries and equipment inspected will be identified.

We supply and fully install all labels and markings as required for each item of equipment, including:

  • Barcode Identification label.
  • Coded weatherproof inspected stickers.
  • Intrinsically safe sticker label (if applicable).

In addition we can supply for your Verification Dossier:

  • Records sufficient to enable the explosion protected equipment to be maintained in accordance with its type of protection (for example list and location of apparatus, technical information, manufacturer's instructions).
  • A 'hard copy' Hazardous Verification Dossier, if required.
  • A hard bound folder, complete with cover sheet, index, plastic wallets for drawings, and space for additional information.
